Profile

The throughline

Systems are where the work begins.

Ben Camenker has spent more than 15 years building technology, media, and marketing companies, both as a founder and in operating roles on platforms within the Amazon and Microsoft ecosystems.

Ben was an early adopter of AI and now designs agent-based workflows for practical use. He looks for repetitive work, disconnected tools, and underused data, then builds a cleaner way through them. His plant breeding follows a similar discipline: careful observation, selection, iteration, and field testing.

Cold-climate breeding

Plant hybridization

Pushing growing zones
past their old limits.

Ben breeds new varieties for climates where familiar options are scarce. The goal is practical: move the growing zone north, improve productivity during short seasons, and give growers more to work with.

Outlaw Pepper Co. Est. 2018

Outlaw Pepper Co. gives Ben a place to run long-term breeding trials, select for useful traits, and learn what survives outside the greenhouse.

01

Push zones

Select plants that can survive and produce beyond their usual growing range.

02

Increase yield

Select for reliable production within a shorter growing window.

03

Expand choice

Develop varieties that cold-climate growers cannot readily find elsewhere.

Working question 05 / 06

What could this system do better?

That might mean an AI workflow that cuts hours of repetitive work, software that makes a messy process easier to manage, a business with clearer operating systems, or the introduction of cold hardy genes, drought tolerance, or disease resistance to a million-year-old gene pool. Ben prefers results that can be measured in day-to-day use.
